Single Mom Summit: Houston, Texas

This month on May 27th, I am hosting a Single Mom Summit in The Woodlands, right outside of Houston. The purpose of the Single Mom Summit is to help moms learn - giving them the tools and strategies they need to help them grow and get to their next level + connect with other moms that are on similar journeys.

Why have a Single Mom Summit?

If you don’t know by now, I am super passionate about educating moms - especially single moms because there is a lot that we don’t know and quite frankly - we weren’t taught. I also believe that exposure provides a lens for us to see what’s possible, despite our circumstances.

I’ve been wanting to host a Single Mom Conference but I never believed it was the right time and now I’ve learned that there is never a right now. Sometimes, you just have to take a risk and go for it! Instead of a traditional conference, I wanted it to have more of a retreat feel.

Moms in the community were asking for an alternative to the Single Moms Retreat that didn’t require a passport or having to find a sitter for days. I came up with the Single Mom Summit as a solution. Think of it as a mini retreat. The location is an award-winning resort that is so peaceful and we are offering childcare onsite.

Who is the Single Mom Summit for?

The single mom summit is for you if you are…

Looking to get better with your money…

Interested in creating generational wealth for your kids…

Wanting to become a better parent…

Wanting to improve the way you communicate with your kids…

Looking for ways to prioritize caring for yourself with all that you have going on…

Wanting to maintain your mental health…

Wanting to meet other single moms…

Simply looking to improve your life altogether

Where is the Single Mom Summit being held?

It is being held at The Woodlands Resort, which I believe to be such a peaceful place that is also family-friendly. The property is so beautiful and I am certain that everyone will like it!

How did you choose the topics?

In my five years of having this community, Single Black Motherhood, certain topics come up over and over again - money, not having community, parenting, and self-care. So I’ve taken those topics and intentionally designed the summit in a way where we can discuss those things. The first part of the summit is specifically for learning and growth.

Moms will be able to choose from three tracks:

  1. Money - What do you need to get your money foundation in order? Once your foundation is in order, how do you build generational wealth?

  2. Parenting - Why is reparenting important and how do you get started? A lot of moms don’t realize that a lot of things that they do now as a parent is because of the way they were parented and it’s important to unlearn some of those things and reparent themselves. How do you communicate to stay connected with your child even as a busy mom?

  3. Wellness - How do you maintain your mental health when you have to deal with so much? How do you prioritize self-care?

The sessions will answer these questions from moms who have been single moms or are currently single moms that have successfully dealt with the topics themselves so they are qualified to speak on them. Some of them deal with the topics on a daily basis, helping clients.

After the sessions, we’ll break for lunch and come back for connection time with a roundtable networking session, where moms will get to sit down and speak with other moms who are on similar journeys and make new mom friends.

We will then have a single mom panel discussion where moms will share their stories and tips that have helped them get to where they are today. I’ll be participating in this one and I am so excited!

Every session will have a Q&A component, as well as the panel discussion.

I just really want to make sure the moms that make the investment in themselves get what they need to improve in the specific area they desire plus make connections that will help change their life - especially since this may be a one-time event!
